2006, December 15th:

The 2007 Canada Winter Games Torch Relay is continuing its exciting journey across Canada’s northern landscape.
Recently, the Yukon torch made a stop in Watson Lake and lit their annual bonfire. The torch was then taken by community youth on a four kilometre relay through Watson Lake’s trail system. The festivities proved to be a perfect stop for the torch from start to finish when an impressive fireworks display took centre stage to end a day of excitement and fun. Other successful torch events took place in: Marsh Lake, Yukon; Tagish, Yukon; Fort Liard, Northwest Territories; and Cape Dorset, Nunavut.
December is a busy month for the Torch Relay in all three territories. The Yukon has three torch stops planned for Carcross, Ibex and Beaver Creek. The Northwest Territories torch will travel to Lutsel k’e and Deline. Stops in Gjoa Haven, Cambridge Bay, Kugluktuk and Taloyoak are planned for the Nunavut Torch.
The three Canada Games torches will be reunited at the 2007 Canada Winter Games Opening Ceremony on February 23, 2007; an 11-month journey since the initial start of the relay in Ottawa on April 6, 2006.
