The Canada Games is looking for help to move almost 2,000 bunk beds over the next two weekends. The bunk beds will be the resting spot for Games' athletes and artists between February 23 and March 10, but need to be transported from Stan MacGowan Arena in Porter Creek to the Athletes' Village.
It's a huge job, and the Games are looking for volunteers to lend a hand. For volunteers who will be in the middle of the action at Games time, it's a great opportunity to build excitement and get involved.
But, you can still help out if you're not a registered volunteer. This is a chance to get involved in the Games, even if you aren't able to volunteer at Games time.
The moving begins on Friday, December 8, between 5:30 pm and 7 pm, then again on Saturday and Sunday for two shifts each day, 9 am to 1 pm and 1 pm to 5 pm. The same schedule will repeat the next weekend, from Friday, December 15 to Sunday, December 17. It's all happening at Stan McGowan Arena.
The work is hands-on and involves lifting mattresses and frames. Volunteers should be fit and able to participate in physical work.
