A Canada Games Figure Skating Test event was held at the Canada Games Centre in Whitehorse from Friday, September 22 to Sunday, September 24. Elite athletes from across the Western provinces and territories competed in the novice and pre-novice divisions.

Test events are important steps in preparing for the Canada Games. They allow local organizers and volunteers to put Games-time protocols, systems and plans into action.

The events also give Yukoners a chance to watch some great athletes perform and help build excitement for the Games, which are quickly approaching.

Three more test events will be held in the build-up to the Games. The next test event to look forward to is a judo competition at the Canada Games Centre on Oct. 15-16. Two final test events will be held in November: boxing at F.H. Collins Secondary School and a fencing event at Vanier Catholic Secondary School.
