The New Brunswick squash team was first in competitions Sunday in the second week of the Canada Games.

In the men’s category, New Brunswick lost 4-0 to Alberta. Jean-Michel Paré (Dieppe) lost 3-0 (1-9, 2-9, 0-9), Cassian Ferlate (Saint John) lost 3-0 (0-9, 0-9, 0-9), Fraser Ross (Moncton) 3-0 (0-9, 0-9,1-9) and Ryan Morris (Moncton) lost 3-0 (0-9, 0-9, 1-9). In women’s competition, Team NB lost 3 - 0 to Alberta. Emily Ross (Moncton) 0-9, 0-9, 0-9, Geneviève Lalonde (Moncton) 0-9, 1-9, 0-9 and Andréanne Roy (Dieppe) 0-9, 0-9, 0-9 lost 3-0 to stronger Alberta opponents in team competitions.

Manitoba took a 4-0 win over Nova Scotia, in both men’s and women’s play. David Glass won 9-0, 9-1 and 9-1; John Arbuthnot won 9-1, 9-1, 9-0; Graeme Schmidt took his matches 9-5, 9-3, and 9-0 while Johandre Jacobs won 9-4, 9-2 and 9-5. On the womens’ side, it was Alix Younger, 9-0, 9-7 and 9-0; Elsemari Jacobs 9-1, 9-1, and a squeaker of 10-8. Chelsea Clarke took her matches 9-5, 9-2 and 9-5, while Leanne glass finished 9-0, 9-1 and 9-2.

B.C. men took on the Northwest Territories and women went up against the home team, Yukon. In both men's and women's competition, Rafik Bhaloo , Ryan Herden and Thomas Brinkman Mac Foster , Rachel Au, Kristen Iverson, Nikki Sequeira and Sarah Parsons) all scored decisive victories over their opponents..
