LET THE CULTURE BEGIN!
2007, March 1st:
For seven days, you can delight to 440 performers! Visual artists, demonstrations and northern foods are featured. Best of all, thanks to our sponsors, it’s free. Noon to 10 p.m daily, all are welcome to share in culture and the Pan North experience.
Arviat Traditional Choir enthralled the streams of people with innovative throat singing. Adding to the customary two singers, they added two more and then two more. Kwanlin Dun Youth Drummers sang stick gambling songs with drums they made, wearing vests they had sewn themselves.
Soir de Semaine brought the audience to the dance floor with their original Francophone material. From NWT, Jane Dragon rolled out grizzly and polar bear rugs and wolf pelts for the audience to loll on as she shared about her culture by showing traditional items.
Hungry? Bison chili with two kinds of bannock, elk smokies and burgers and Indian tacos are some menu choices. Come share in our culture!
