February 23 to March 10, 2021 ribbon Canada Winter Games 2007
Hockey wrap: February 27
2007, February 28th:
If the semis are anything like the quarter finals, expect some gritty, exciting, fire-wagon hockey on Wednesday. And perhaps some shocking up-sets, too.

Team Quebec, tipped in the stands to ultimately take the gold, didn’t convince a plucky Manitoba squad which, lead by Braeden Adamyk’s two goals, tied the game with 23 seconds left in regulation play, then went on to beat them in overtime.

Manitoba moves on to play Alberta, who squeaked passed New Brunswick with a goal by defenceman Steven Siego with 3:14 left on the clock. Jordan Rowley scored for Alberta in both the first and second periods in their 4 – 3 win.

In the other late game yesterday, three goals by Saskatchewan’s Kruise Reddick wasn’t enough when BC’s Thomas Frazee scored 6 minutes into overtime to send his team into the Semifinal round. They will play powerful Ontario, who scored 4 goals in the first period and went on to beat Nova Scotia 6-0.

Final scores: MB 7- PQ 6; AB 4 - NB 3; BC 5 - SK 4; ON 6 - NS 0
Semi final match-ups: ON vs BC; MB vs AB.
