Alberta Women's Curlers Lead with Two
2007, February 28th:
Only Alberta posted two wins in opening day of curling action. The Alberta women's curling squad, skipped by Nadine Chyz, took their two victories over two northern rinks in the opening two draws of the women's curling tournament on Monday. Chyz and her Calgary-based foursome started the day with an 11-5 victory over Yukon and went on to take their second victory 12-1 over Nunavut, after 8 ends.

All other teams in the Pool A posted one win and one loss, except the two northern teams. Nova Scotia took the win over Nunavut after eight ends, 12-1, but then took a 3-9 loss at the hands of Saskatchewan. The Prairie team went on to meet B.C. who triumphed 7-1. In turnabout, they lost to Quebec 5-7.

In Pool B action Monday, Ontario counted for five in the ninth end to stretch it's lead over New Brunswick 10-3 while Newfoundland and Labrador took an 8-6 lead over PEI. PEI tied the match in the eighth but NL kept two in the house in the 10 th to take the win. And finally, Manitoba outshot Northwest Territories to take an 11-4 win.
